DevCorner: Open (Game Art) Bundle

An interesting mixture to "pay what you want" and "ransom funding" has recently surfaced with the Open Bundle:

You can buy all the offered game art and use them under the CC-by license and if the total threshold is reached (10k, 1 day remaining, 9.3k already pledged) all the game art (2d sprites and music) will be officially released under the CC0. A split of the funds is btw. shared with the EFF and Creative Commons.

For those wondering: no, it is not done by our friends of OpenGameArt.org, but they think it is a good project anyways. Interestingly the creator is also thinking of expanding the idea:
Do you want to host your own "public domain ransom"?
I'd love to help you! Email me at nick@commonly.cc
P.S.: While we are on last day notices: Today ends the registration period for the Unvanquished summer tournament. Also check out their latest Alpha 17.

Moosader's Text-Based Game Competition [until April 9th 2012]

image labeled "Text-Based Game": ASCII-Art Female with a o_o expression. Buttons saying "Attack" and "Glare" next to her, the first being selected

Moosader - creator, host and leading contributor to OpenArt - also hosts game development competitions on her community's forum.

The current theme is "Text-Based Game" and will be over in 9 days, so feel free to join! There are 25 projects in it so far.
Make a text-based game, like Zork, Adventure, Nethack, or something completely your own!
I spotted some free, open source projects among them [1] [2] but didn't have time to take a closer look. There's parody, Lua, C++ and JavaScript represented is all I can tell so far.

Libre Graphics Meeting 10-13 May 2011, Blendswap v3, OpenArt

I'm looking forward to the LGM this year. Bart, admin of OpenGameArt will talk about running libre graphics projects.

You can view previous year's talk videos here.

Version 3 of Blendswap is live! But the site has some server load problems.

OpenArt, Moosader's own take on game resource sharing has been updated and has content under CC0 and CC-BY v3 licenses. It received a visual update a while ago.
